Grasmere

Osprey Cottage and Osprey Nest are nestled in the heart of Grasmere village , which is well known for it's links to the poet William Wordsworth. The village is an ideal tourist destination in the centre of the English Lake District and takes its name from the adjacent lake.

A superb attraction of our properties, is being able to walk straight out from your accommodation onto the surrounding hills and fells to enjoy the spectacular scenery, there is a good selection of maps and walking guides for your perusal and use during your stay.

For the non walkers, there is a wealth of attractions and interests in Grasmere and the surrounding villages...

from William Wordsworth's Dove Cottage, Allen Bank which is perfect if you would like to see Red Squirrels and with a short drive to Ambleside (4 miles), you can take a boat trip on Lake Windermere.

Grasmere and Ambleside offer some excellent dining out options, from Michelin restaurants, to more casual dining, again information provided for you during your stay in the information folder.

Dove Cottage

Dove Cottage is a house on the edge of Grasmere in the Lake District of England. It is best known as the home of the poet William Wordsworth and his sister Dorothy Wordsworth

Rydal Mount

Rydal Mount is a house in the small village of Rydal, near Ambleside in the English Lake District. It is best known as the home of the poet William Wordsworth from 1813 to his death in 1850. It is currently operated as a writer's home museum.

Easedale Tarn

Easedale Tarn is a favourite walk of mine in the centre of the English Lake District, about two miles west of the village of Grasmere. It lies in a hollow between Tarn Crag to the north and Blea Rigg to the south, about 910 feet or 280 metres above sea level. – See on the ordanence survey map which you may borrow during your stay

Bowfell

For the more serious walkers Bowfell is a pyramid-shaped mountain lying at the heart of the English Lake District, in the Southern Fells area. It is the sixth-highest mountain in the Lake District and one of the most popular of the Lake District fells for walkers

St Oswalds Church

A delightful church just down the road from Ospey accommodation. It was founded by Oswald of Northumbria, King of Northumbria, in 642. The present church stands on or near the same site, and is dedicated to him. It dates from the 14th century, and was doubled in size by the addition of a parallel nave to the north of the original nave between 1490 and 1500. The roof was rebuilt in about 1562, which involved adding a second tier

Grizedale Forest

Grizedale Forest nestles in the heart of the Lake District between lakes Windermere and Coniston. Activities range from gentle walks to swinging through the trees on GoApe, enjoying a leisurely meal in the Grizedale Café to exhilarating mountain bike rides and Segway – All great fun.
